Dr. Meseret Zelalem Tadesse
Specialist in Pediatrics and Child Health
Dr. Meseret is a seasoned Pediatrician and Assistant professor of pediatrics and child health, serving as Deputy CEO, the Chief Programs and Research Officer at the African Center for Early Childhood Development.
With over 16 years of experience, she has excelled in various roles including in Leadership, as a senior medical specialist, medical director, and Institutional Board of Review Chairperson. Dr. Meseret’s expertise spans research, academia, clinical service, leadership and community services, with a focus on Reproductive, maternal, child, and adolescent health and nutrition and mentorship of colleagues to empower women in the arena of leadership. She has contributed significantly to community outreach programs, and youth and adolescent health through meaningful engagement of youths leading several cost-effective and innovative strategies and implementation solutions benefiting newborns, children, women and adolescents. Notable achievements include her roles as a COVDP national secretary, GAVI steering committee member for Zero Dose, GAVI strategy steering committee member and advisor to various initiatives including the WHO-Africa Regional office for RMNCAH. Dr. Meseret’s passion spans in women’s leadership, girls’ empowerment, and child wellbeing, showcased through her advocacy and speaking engagements at the national, continental and several global platforms. Currently, she is dedicated to advancing Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives, aiming to break intergenerational poverty and create a conducive environment for every child’s growth and development in the country and spanning the continent. She has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in different reputable journals.
