Prof Omu Anzala

Professor of Medical Microbiology and Immunology and Senior Research Scientist at the KAVI Institute of Clinical Research, University of Nairobi, Kenya

Professor Anzala’s early research on HIV led to the foundation of the KAVI Institute as the preeminent HIV vaccine research unit in Kenya. More recently his research has focussed on emerging viruses; as such he was heavily involved in characterising SARS-CoV-2 in Kenya and the East African region. He oversees implementation of clinical and laboratory activities in Kenya.
